Deathchaser is a short story that was born in an unusual way. It all started with The Lightstone of Perlan, a fantasy novel that I wrote a few years ago. After many, many edits, I sent out a flurry of queries to agents and publishers to see if the story would be on anyone’s wish list.
Then I heard back from an editor, who mentioned one particular scene that caught her eye. That made me start thinking and as a writer’s brain will do, I considered my lead heroine’s story and wondered — What if…?
So I took that scene and turned it on its head and in the process, created a new character. Enter Rika, a young woman who wants nothing more than to save her father’s life.
Rika’s desperation takes her to the temple to petition her God for his healing. What she finds there is nothing like what she was expecting.
I’d tell you more, but I don’t want to give away the story. But good news! You can find out for yourself — the story, entitled Deathchaser, is now available on Kindle for only 99c. I encourage you to check it out and let me know what you think! I’d love to hear your thoughts.
